Welcome! I’m Lisa Whittaker, writer and author of Seasons of Grace and If I Were a Turkey.
Long Walks and Dark Chocolate began as a place to share pieces of life—the things I was learning, the moments that made me laugh, the beauty I noticed along the way, and the ways God continued to meet me in ordinary days. Over the years, those reflections have grown right along with me.
I write about faith, family, home, nature, and the lessons tucked into everyday life. Sometimes those lessons come during a long walk, sometimes through changing seasons, and sometimes in places I never expected to find them.
Many of the reflections shared here eventually became part of my book, Seasons of Grace: Reflections on Faith, Family, and the Changing Seasons of Life. I’m also the author of the children’s book If I Were a Turkey, a much sillier adventure brought to life with illustrations by my husband, Kurt.
I’m glad you’re here. I hope you’ll look around, stay awhile, and perhaps find a little encouragement, or simply something that makes you smile.
